Outdoors
Our Woodland Walk takes you around parts of the estate and there’s lots to see on the way, from fairy houses, to frogs in the pond and bugs in the bug hotel.
The end of the walk takes you down through parts of the farm, as we are a working farm we ask that you respect this and help keep everyone safe. Please close gates behind you and admire our beautiful animals from afar.
Whilst we don’t allow dogs in the main café building, we have a covered, heated seat area adjacent to the café and if the sun is shining, it’s a real sun trap. We also have a secure cycle rack adjacent to the outdoor seating area.
Next to the café building, we also have the old farm tractor which is safe for children to play on, along with the tractor trailers made on site by our estate team. There are picnic tables for grown ups to keep an eye on the wee ones, whilst enjoying the many delights from our takeaway.
Whitmuir is a wet and windy 140 acre working farm situated 900 feet above sea level, on a north facing slope in the far corner of the Scottish Borders farmed organically. It is a tough environment!
Of paramount importance to us is the very best of animal husbandry, and to promote local produce.
At present we have 41 head of cattle, all traditional breeds including our highland cows – Morag and Maggie-Moo and 9 Suffolk sheep.
In addition to our farming ethos, the team at Whitmuir accommodate and actively seek, groups and individuals to either learn or empower them into employment and improve their mental health.
