Located just 16 miles from Edinburgh in the beautiful Scottish Borders, and with breathtaking views of the Pentland Hills, Whitmuir Farm, Cafe and Farm Shop sit within over 130 acres of working farmland and beautiful woodland.
We are a family friendly, welcoming and relaxed place that everyone loves to visit. There’s lots to do here; you can enjoy a ramble along our Woodland Walk, then grab a tasty treat and coffee to go, or treat yourself to a sit down meal in the Cafe. Our fantastic Farm Shop is the perfect place to pick up fresh local meat, cheese, bread, fruit, veg, and delicious snacks. We hold classes, workshops and events for all ages, and you can hire out the Hive or the Nest for your special events.
We welcome dogs on leads around the estate (as we are a working farm) and we have a heated outdoor seating area adjacent to the cafe, as well as a secure bike rack. Picnic tables surround our old farm tractor that children can play on and let their imagination run wild.
And if all of that isn’t enough, Quercus Garden Plants have everything you could need for your Scottish garden – and we don’t just mean the plants, their advice is second to none.
Lovingly described by our farmer as a “bog on a hill in a frost pocket”, Whitmuir Farm faces many of the challenges that all Scottish farms face; waterlogged soil, hilly terrain, and, yes, you guessed it, the cold.
We’re a regenerative farm, focusing on soil health, caring for our unique site, and increasing biodiversity. The benefits of regenerative agriculture are endless, and include carbon capture, greater food security, flood and drought management, better animals welfare and healthier foods.

We look forward to welcoming you soon.
